Many, many people were affected by Hurricane Ian.  I think we all thought that we would have been further along in the recovery phase by now.  However, delays in supplies, labor, insurance claim payouts, permits, inspections, etc., are the new reality.  If you found yourself in the situation of having to make a temporary move just after the storm, or are now considering one, please know that Medicare is extending the Special Election Period until September.  What does this mean to you?  If you are currently enrolled in a Medicare plan, you may be eligible to make a plan change that better suits your needs – either here or in another area.  Medicare is allowing this because many folks that would have made plan changes either during last year’s Annual Election Period (that ended December 7th), or this year’s Open Enrollment Period (which ended on March 31st), weren’t able to do so due to unforeseen circumstances.  If you find you need to make a plan change, you now have until September to do so.
