Our Company History
Jim Thousand first started Insurance Solutions in 1995. Kathy Thousand joined Jim in 1998. As our business grew and we added new insurance products we changed our business name to Insurance Options, Inc. in 2000. Our daughter, Katherine joined us in 2012. We opened our first office in the fall of 2013. In 2015 we became an independent General Agency and began recruiting independent agents to work with our agency. We hope to open our second office soon!
Kathy Thousand is originally from Syracuse, New York, where she graduated from Onondaga Community College with a business degree. Her first job was working for an insurance carrier underwriting business owner policies. She moved to Cape Coral in 1994 with her family, where she became a licensed insurance agent in 1997 and together with her husband, Jim, has offered health/life & Medicare. Jim Thousand is originally from Rochester, New York and is a graduate of Mexico Academy & Central Schools in Mexico, NY. He has been a licensed insurance agent since 1995. In addition to insurance, Jim has a second business – Accurate Auto Appraisals – and is a licensed mediator in the State of Florida. He is a classic car enthusiast. Katherine Thousand is a graduate of Florida Southern College in Lakeland with a Bachelors’ degree in Science. She received her insurance license in 2012 when she became the youngest licensed Medicare agent with UnitedHealthcare. She enjoys boating & fishing and lives in Alva.
